The short version. By using BabyBoard, you agree to these terms. We give you a personal license to run the app on your Macs. You pay $14.99 once to unlock Letters & Numbers (refundable within 14 days). Don't redistribute the app or try to bypass the lockdown to circumvent payment. We provide BabyBoard as-is — supervise your kid as you would with any device.
1. The deal
These Terms govern your use of the BabyBoard website (babyboard.app), the BabyBoard macOS app, and any related services we provide ("BabyBoard"). By signing in or making a purchase, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use BabyBoard.
2. Who can sign up
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) and able to enter into a binding contract. BabyBoard is designed for adults to set up on behalf of children — it's not a service for children to sign up to themselves.
3. Your account
- One account per email address. Sign-in is via magic link only — no password to forget.
- You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure. Anyone who can read your email can sign in to BabyBoard.
- If you suspect unauthorized access, click "Sign out of all devices" on your account page to revoke every active session.
4. License grant
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:
- Download and run the BabyBoard macOS app on Macs you personally own or use within your household.
- Use whichever features your account is entitled to (Sensory Play is free; Letters & Numbers requires a one-time purchase).
The license is for personal and family use. You may not:
- Redistribute, sell, or sublicense the app to others.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the app to bypass entitlement checks or remove the kiosk lockdown for the purpose of circumventing payment.
- Use BabyBoard for commercial purposes (e.g., as part of a paid daycare's kiosk fleet) without prior written agreement. Email us — we're reasonable.
BabyBoard, including all source code, design, and content, remains the property of its developer.
5. Payment, pricing, and refunds
- One-time purchase. Letters & Numbers is $14.99 USD, paid once. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no recurring charge.
- Stripe handles payment. We never see your card details. Sales tax, where applicable, is calculated and added by Stripe at checkout.
- 14-day refund window. Email support@babyboard.app within 14 days of purchase and we'll issue a full refund through Stripe. After 14 days, refunds are evaluated case-by-case but not guaranteed.
- If you refund: the entitlement is removed from your account. Already-issued license JWTs cached on your devices may continue to honor the entitlement until they expire (up to 30 days) — that's a deliberate trade-off so the offline-grace window doesn't break for paying users.
6. Service availability
We try to keep BabyBoard online, but we can't promise 100% uptime. The macOS app is designed to keep working offline for up to 30 days after each successful sign-in, so transient outages on our end shouldn't interrupt play. Planned maintenance is rare; if it happens during an outage we'll post on babyboard.app.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use BabyBoard to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or our infrastructure.
- Spam our email-sending system (the rate limiter will stop you, but it's still not OK).
- Resell access or distribute pirated copies.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
8. Disclaimers — please read
- Supervise your child. BabyBoard is a kiosk overlay, not a babysitter. As with any device, an adult should be in the room. Your Mac is still a heavy object with a hard screen and small parts (like the keyboard).
- Provided as-is. BabyBoard is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app is uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every Mac configuration.
- You decide what's appropriate. You're responsible for whether and how your child uses BabyBoard, including how long, how often, and whether the visuals/sounds are suitable for your child.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BabyBoard's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, or (b) USD $50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost data, lost time, or property damage — even if we've been advised of the possibility.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BabyBoard's developer from any third-party claims arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these Terms.
11. Changes to BabyBoard or these Terms
We may update the app, the website, or these Terms. For material changes to these Terms we'll update the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, send a notice to your account email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
If we discontinue BabyBoard entirely, we'll give existing users reasonable notice and refund any purchase made within the prior 12 months on request.
12. Termination
You can terminate at any time by deleting your account from your account page. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violation of these Terms. Sections that should survive termination (license restrictions, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) survive.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of the developer's residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located there. Nothing in this section limits your rights as a consumer under your local law.
